Willmott Partnership Homes – Royal Holloway Student Residencies
The new student accommodation at Royal Holloway, University of London will provide rooms for 621 students on its North Campus. The project involves construction of 56 three and four storey townhouses that will provide housing for eight or 12 students each. Each townhouse will have social and study spaces, receptions and laundries to encourage interaction and networking.
BIMBox were invited to work with the team at Willmott Partnership Homes to develop a data rich Asset Information Model. BIMBox were commissioned to build 57 dimensionally accurate M&E models, federate the structural and architectural models, coordinate the site plan and deliver full COBie schemas for each house block. This exercise held 157 separate models, which were coordinated and linked to the master site plan.
BIMBox pushed the boundaries of COBie by incorporating extended asset information parameters mapped to the existing Planet FM (CAFM) platform within the defined assets allowing the automated delivery both COBie & Planet FM compatible schemas for each block.
Royal Holloway Student Residencies project proves the value of sound processes and well-defined Asset Information Requirements which are developed throughout the design and construction process moving from Building Information Models to the incumbent FM system through the extensive use of COBie and close collaboration with the FM team.
